Hugh Hilton
Co-Founder, Managing Director
Hugh Hilton is a Co-Founder and Managing Director of Catalyst in Los Angeles. Mr. Hilton brings more than 20 years of experience in assisting insolvent and troubled companies, with a focus on operational, financial and real estate-related restructuring.
Since 1988, Mr. Hilton has gained a significant base of corporate turnaround, crisis management, performance improvement and private M&A experience in a variety of industries, including retail, manufacturing, technology, healthcare, real estate, restaurant gaming and hospitality. Mr. Hilton’s positions in these organizations have included Chairman, CEO, President, and Chief Restructuring Advisor. Mr. Hilton currently serves as the Chief Restructuring Manager for the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino in Reno, NV.
Prior to Catalyst, Hugh co-founded HVK, Inc. in 1988 with Mark Velarde to provide real estate advisory services to institutional, public and private entities. HVK also provided real estate solutions for a number of corporate workout clients of Alvarez & Marsal (A&M). Upon A&M’s acquisition of HVK, Messers Hilton and Velarde established A&M’s West Coast division in 1992, and led that practice until 2003.
Mr. Hilton began his career with BankAmerica as VP of Investment Real Estate, and later served as President of Karsten Institutional Real Estate Advisors (a division of First Interstate Bancorp).
Mr. Hilton received a BBA and an MBA from the University of Michigan, and a JD from the University of Colorado. He is a member of the Colorado Bar, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
